Objective One: (Learn how to tailor media posts to different target audiences.)
Everyone is not the same. Individuals may fit a generalized mold that determines the category they are placed, but in the end, they are all individuals. My largest objective is to research and learn as much about the people who are targeted as possible. I want to create dynamic content that gets the point across, generates engagement, and produces exceptional results.
To do this, I need to perform intensive research and get “creepy”. I need to study the demographics of the targeted audiences and learn more in-depth about their overall lifestyles. I want to take the generalizations within the demographics and focus on points that can make the same announcement unique to the differing individuals. This will be difficult to do right away, but the goal is to increase engagement. When more people are reached efficiently through personable posts, the more word-of-mouth marketing they will unconsciously indulge in. Word-of-mouth marketing is a major component of social media marketing, and with this strategy the company itself will grow its popularity and total notability.
Objective Two: (Learn about the best times to reach audience and make effective posts.)
Different social media platforms have a diverse spectrum of “best times” to post. Timing is especially crucial. For example, Facebook reaches an extremely large audience, but many of them are adults that can start from their mid-twenties forward until a person’s mid-sixties. In this case, a marketer would want to create content that appeals to a more mature audience than those on Twitter. According to social media marketing, the best time to reach an audience on Facebook is very early in the morning between 6am to 8am. Apparently, people check their Facebook accounts similarly to when they would read an early morning newspaper before work.
This example contradicts the younger audience platform of Twitter. Twitter indicates the best time to reach individuals on their platform is after work around 5pm-7pm. I want to become fully aware of the peak hours of all social media and media channels to schedule posts that the world will see. This will become a skill of mine that I will have to develop over the course of research and trial and error.
Objective Three: (Learn how to write concise media content without being too wordy.)
Then, the problem poses where I am incredibly wordy. I tend to over sell information. My word choice could expand to get the same message across in more effective diction. I have been working on this now while creating content for my internship at Young Audiences of Virginia. I have found it quite challenging shortening my posts that I put on Facebook in order to put it on Twitter because of the limited word count.
Eventually, I want to get very active in the realm of hashtags. This will make public posts more searchable for our audience. Being consistent in posting and actively engaging in hashtags will increase the likability of our content being seen from a large audience. By utilizing these hashtags, instead of additional wording, I will force myself into being more concise to increase my reach and interaction on posts.
Objective Four: (Learn about marketing analytics and change marketing styles to increase audience reach.)
Finally, I want to learn about marketing analytics. Currently, I literally know nothing about analytics of any type, but on LinkedIn I noticed that marketing analytic jobs are prominent. I want to dive deeper into the realm of analytics and truly understand every aspect about it. Even if I do not go into a job field that requires me to be completely immersed into analytics, I believe that it will still assist me greatly in anything I decide to do after graduation.
Once I am educated on marketing analytics, I am going to focus on improving marketing strategies to constantly advance my craft. I will do so by continuously tailoring my marketing styles to the differing target audiences on the separate platforms. As I do so I will retrieve the analytics and progress as I grow in the industry. Overall, my goals mesh together to make me an amazing strategic marketer.
